INTRODUCTION The lack of indigenous energy resources and high dependence on energy imports (-99%) indicate that the energy security is crucial in Taiwan1. Mikkelsen et al. created the term of "The teraton challenge "and described that the increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide is linked to climate changes2. Fig. 1 shows the fatal problem of carbon cycle essentially triggered by the excess emission of CO2 from the power generation.
